Protesters Gather Outside White House on Fifth Anniversary of Tigray Conflict

At 1702, 04 Nov. 2025, protesters began gathering outside the White House in Washington, D.C. This demonstration marked the fifth anniversary of the outbreak of war in Ethiopia’s Tigray region.

As numbers grew, demonstrators were observed assembled along the White House perimeter carrying signs demanding justice, humanitarian aid access, international accountability, and renewed public attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting Tigray civilians.

Sinage included calls for food aid resumption, accountability for genocide, justice for displaced persons, and demands for the withdrawal of Eritrean forces from the region.

Attendees included men and women of all ages, some carrying American flags, others wrapped in regional colors associated with Tigray solidarity efforts. Speakers addressed the crowd by megaphone while demonstrators responded with chants and calls for action.

Some demonstrators clutched photographs of loved ones lost or missing; others stood silent while speeches continued.

The conflict in Tigray, which began in November 2020, resulted in widespread civilian casualties and displacement, allegations of war crimes, famine conditions, and international condemnation.

Five years later, those gathered outside the White House made clear they believed accountability remains incomplete.
