Public Press Co., LLC is an independent publication and visual storytelling studio committed to honest journalism, documentary storytelling, and visual reporting rooted in accuracy, transparency, and editorial independence.
These standards guide how Public Press Co. approaches reporting, photography, editorial decision-making, and public trust.
1. EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE
Public Press Co. maintains editorial independence in its reporting, visual journalism, and published editorial work.
Editorial decisions are made independently and are not controlled by advertisers, sponsors, collaborators, event organizers, clients, outside institutions, political interests, or other third parties unless expressly disclosed.
Where outside relationships materially affect content, those relationships will be clearly identified.
2. ACCURACY AND FAIRNESS
Public Press Co. strives for accuracy, fairness, and responsible reporting.
Reasonable efforts are made to:
- verify factual information;
- accurately represent events;
- confirm names, dates, locations, and relevant details where possible;
- avoid misleading omissions;
- distinguish fact from opinion or commentary.
While journalism often involves evolving information, intentional misrepresentation is inconsistent with our standards.
3. CORRECTIONS
Accuracy matters.
If factual errors are identified in published reporting, captions, or editorial content, corrections will be made when appropriate.

4. EDITORIAL DISCLOSURE AND TRANSPARENCY
Public Press Co. may produce a combination of:
- independent editorial journalism;
- documentary work;
- commissioned editorial storytelling;
- assignment-based visual work;
- publication features;
- collaborative projects.
Editorial content is produced independently unless expressly disclosed otherwise.
Sponsored, paid, commissioned, collaborative, or materially influenced content will be clearly identified where appropriate.
We do not intentionally present paid influence as independent editorial reporting.
5. COMMENTARY VS REPORTING
Reporting, documentary journalism, commentary, essays, and opinion-based content may differ in purpose and tone.
Where commentary or opinion is presented, reasonable effort will be made to distinguish it from straight reporting.
6. PHOTOJOURNALISM AND DOCUMENTARY INTEGRITY
Public Press Co. values visual honesty.
Editorial and documentary imagery must not be materially manipulated in ways that alter factual reality or misrepresent events.
Permissible editorial adjustments may include:
- cropping;
- exposure correction;
- tonal balancing;
- highlight/shadow recovery;
- white balance correction;
- contrast adjustments;
- color correction;
- black-and-white conversion;
- sharpening;
- standard darkroom-equivalent processing.
Editorial images must not be altered to:
- add subjects;
- remove subjects;
- stage false events;
- materially change context;
- create deceptive representations.
Commissioned portrait, commercial, or artistic work may involve broader creative editing standards and is distinct from editorial documentary work.
7. STAGING AND REPRESENTATION
Public Press Co. does not knowingly present staged scenes, reenactments, or manipulated moments as authentic editorial documentation unless clearly disclosed.
Documentary and editorial credibility depend on truthful representation.
8. SOURCES AND INFORMATION
Public Press Co. may rely on:
- direct observation;
- interviews;
- public records;
- official statements;
- firsthand accounts;
- submitted materials;
- documentary evidence;
- independent reporting.
Submitted information may be investigated, verified, declined, or disregarded at editorial discretion.
Submission alone does not guarantee publication.
9. CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
Editorial decisions should not be improperly influenced by undisclosed personal, financial, political, or commercial interests.
Potential conflicts should be avoided or disclosed where material.
10. COMMISSIONED WORK AND EDITORIAL SEPARATION
Public Press Co. may accept commissioned assignments, editorial contracts, documentary projects, or visual storytelling work.
Commissioned work does not automatically constitute independent editorial reporting.
Reasonable separation will be maintained between independent editorial coverage and client-driven assignments.
Where distinction matters, disclosure will be made.
11. COMMUNITY STANDARDS
Public Press Co. may cover sensitive, emotional, controversial, or difficult subjects.
Coverage decisions aim to balance:
- public interest;
- dignity;
- context;
- truthful representation;
- journalistic purpose.
Not all subjects require publication, even where access exists.
Editorial judgment remains central.
12. INDEPENDENT STATUS
Public Press Co. operates independently.
We are not a government entity, political organization, institutional newsroom, or publicly controlled media body.
Editorial work reflects independent judgment.
13. EVOLVING STANDARDS
Editorial practices may evolve as Public Press Co. grows.
Updated standards become effective upon publication.
